Prayed For Drug Addict

Met a drug addict we knew in town today. He showed us his leg and he has a massive ulcer just above the ankle. We offered to pray and he agreed. He sat down and I placed my hands on his leg higher up, below the knee, as his ulcer pain was bad. Afterwards I asked him to stand up and test it. He said it felt a bit better. I offered to pray for more healing but he wasn’t interested and said he needed to get to the hospital to get it looked at. I said: “fair enough, it’s your choice”. Afterwards we went to the Bus Station and chatted to a few folk and gave out a couple of tracts.

Bare Knuckle Boxer and Football Hooligan

The guy came in for food and was very chatty. He was angry with the DSS because they kept losing his forms from the prison. He came across as a “very angry man” and I found him a bit intimidating

Over time he gave me his background. His mother was a Goth and deemed an unfit mother, so Dad took custody of him. At age 14 he was taken to his first football match. Dad was a football hooligan and taught him “the trade”. By 19 he had been stabbed twice and ended up in prison. Dad blamed him, so he wanted nothing further to do with Dad, and hasn’t seen him since. He graduated to bare-knuckle fighting at 1.00am in a cattle market lit by car headlamps illuminating the circle, and made lots of money. His only brother was caught up in the London terrorist bombings and was blown to bits on the tube, so he had a supreme hatred of Asians he told me.

I hope he read the Christian newspaper we gave him in his food bag, since he needs a real father in his life!

Three Great Days!

On Thursday I went with two ladies into the local hospital. Our plan was to see what the Holy Spirit would do through us as we walked through the hospital complex.

After a few minutes we had prayed with two nurses; one we knew, one we didn’t. We eventually ended up in the Cafe, where we decided to have a coffee. While we were sitting there, one of my ladies had a chest spasm and asked me to pray for her. I did, and as I did so the Holy Spirit came upon all three of us in a powerful way. This lasted several minutes, after which we felt we should stay in the Cafe to see what the Lord might want to do. Over the next half hour we chatted to several people in the Cafe about the Lord. I thanked the young waitress for the job she did for us, then reached out and kissed her hand. She came back with “that’s just where the dog bit me – see the scar?”. One of the ladies on the team spoke further to her about the Lord. I later spoke with another lady I saw getting up unsteadily to her feet. I asked if she needed any help. It turned out she was a Christian from a Baptist church. I asked if she wanted to join us, and she did. We prayed for her as she sat there.

On Friday while in the Food Bank a young couple came in and we ended up chatting about Jesus and the Bible. The girl said she enjoyed the conversation and wanted to came back and see us, so I offered to bring in a Christian video for her to borrow when she came again, plus 2 New Testaments, one each.

On Saturday I was in town with our Healing On The Streets team and was able to share the gospel with an elderly ex-Army man, plus a couple of other guys who asked what we were doing.

A lovely few days with the Lord and going about His business!

Knee Healing Update

In our prayer time today, my Team Leader gave thanks to the Lord for His healing of her knee problem last week.

Afterwards I asked her about it and she said her knees had been absolutely fine since last week. God is good!

Jesus Healing Again

Soon after I arrived, our Team Leader mentioned she had painful knees. I asked her if she believed that Jesus could heal her. She was a bit uncertain, but as we talked about Jesus and his promises, she seemed more encouraged in her faith, and I sensed she had a “mustard seed of faith”. I therefore asked if I could lay hands on her knees. She said that was OK so I did so and spoke life and healing to her knees, to the tendons, ligaments, joints, muscles and bones. I then asked her how they felt and she said “I think the pain is just about gone!” I replied “OK, let’s do a top-up.” She agreed and we had another session. She confirmed that the pain (previously Level 6 on a score of 0-10) was now down to zero – no pain.

A couple of hours afterwards I checked and she confirmed “still no pain”. Thank you Lord!

Market Stall Outreach With Hands On Healing

Spent a few hours on our City Mission outreach stall on Friday. In a couple of hours we gave out 300 Challenge Christian newspapers that were full of testimonies. The weather was very cold, but not too windy.

Had a chat with one older guy who I noticed had a walking stick. He said he had read the Bible “from cover to cover” many years ago. He believed there was “something up there”, but didn’t believe in the God of the Bible.

I pointed out the sign on our stall which said “JESUS IS HEALING TODAY”. I asked him why he was using a walking stick. He told me his left knee was shot to pieces and he needed an operation. They wouldn’t give him one just now as he had suffered three strokes recently.

I offered to pray for his knee, which he said was giving him pain there and then. He agreed, so I laid hands on the knee and commanded healing. I stood up and I asked him “how does it feel?” He said “no different”. I said I would pray again, so he agreed. I did the same again, stood up and asked him “how is it now?” He said “it feels warm”. I told him”that’s the power of Jesus at work in your leg.” He said he had to go, so I told him that his knee would carry on improving. I gave him a gospel tract to take away.

Afterwards I met Gary, an ex-drug addict, who told me he is now giving talks in schools to warn kids of the perils of drug taking. Great news!

Bus Stop Encounter

While waiting for the bus into town, I noticed a guy in a biker jacket with his back to me in the queue with a sign on the back “revs.me.uk” and a strange logo with an infinity symbol. I asked what the “revs” meant and he said “Reverends” I gave him my card; he looked at it and said “I’m not a Christian”. He then explained he believed in all faiths, not just one, and that he had conducted funerals for Pagans, Red Indians, New Agers, etc. I asked him “so who was Jesus Christ?” he replied: “he was a Sun God and was born at Easter”.

The bus then arrived and that was that. Later, I looked up “revs.me.uk” and found they were part of “Universal Life Church” who do indeed believe in all Gods and all religions. On their website Forum I found quite a few interesting stories illustrating some spiritual truths, but not in the Christian context.

Later in town we met some drinkers we knew. A new guy was with them and I shared some of the gospel message with him. I offered him a Luke’s gospel and he was happy to accept it.

An Addict Touched by God

A recovering addict who is temporarily working as a volunteer with us was suffering pain from his leg. Sometime back he had a motor bike accident and has various pins and plates in the leg. I offered to pray for the pain and he readily agreed, although he’s not a Christian.

We sat down and I laid hands on the leg and prayed and also commanded healing for the leg. After a few moments I could sense the Holy Spirit’s power coming through me. I looked at him and he had his eyes closed. After a few moments he opened his eyes and I said: “something has happened, hasn’t it?”. He replied:” Yes, it has”. Suddenly the door behind me opened and a client came in. After that, I didn’t have a chance to speak to him on his own before he went off duty. God at work, again.

On The Street With Jesus Again

Went out with two other Christians on a “Sharing Jesus” day this morning. Met up with two drinkers we knew. Both had been beaten up a few days before in the local park and still showed the scars. The woman had 10 stitches in her forehead, plus bruising from the heavy chain she’d been hit with. The guy was also bruised and bloodied from the encounter. We prayed for both, then moved off through town.

We then met up with another addict we knew and he told us he may lose a leg. He looked in a bad way, so we sat him down and prayed for the leg. He became a little overcome by it all, as we kept on praying. Later, back at base we prayed for a Christian friend.

Hugged A Paedophile

A guy came in for food, said he was on probation and asked me if I knew of any soup kitchens where he could help out. He said he was a chef by profession. In his earlier years he had been the youngest chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant in the UK. I told him any potential soup kitchen would want to know why he was on probation.

It came out that he had voluntarily seen his doctor about his predilection for paedophilia on the web and the outcome was that he was arrested and taken to court. He pointed out that his offence was “non-contact”, i.e. that it was all internet related.

To cut a long story short, I told him that Jesus was the one who could forgive him and enable him to forgive himself. Although not a believer, he agreed to take a gospel which he said he would read on a park bench that afternoon. I ended by offering him a hug which he gratefully received. I felt that’s what Jesus was calling me to do,
