Does God Believe In Atheists?

February 25, 2010

I came across an excellent cartoon today and it reminded me of the excellent book “Does God Believe In Atheists?” by John Blanchard: atheists handing out tracts door-to-door

Urgency In Sharing The Gospel

February 24, 2010

The death of the drug addict I mentioned in another post today was a wake-up reminder to me of the importance of sharing the Gospel faithfully and regularly.

So I shared with a couple of people on the streets today, both of whom knew of the woman addict who died. The first person heard me out graciously and received the tract I gave him. The second guy, whom I see gospel tractregularly on the streets, felt I was “Bible-bashing” and didn’t really want to hear it. Judging by what he said, he was happy to trust in his own goodness for any life hereafter.

Today reminded me that the Gospel is an offense to the natural man. That’s why we like to soft pedal the message so as not to offend anyone; we all hate rejection and want to be liked instead!

Prayed For Healing Today

February 24, 2010

one man praying for another Someone I know, a Christian, asked for prayer today. He has been in great pain  in his arms and legs and elsewhere due to  a debilitating illness. Nothing was evident after the first time of commanding the pain to go, nor after the second. The third time, however, his body shook in a  convulsing way and he felt something had happened. Praise our God who is faithful!

Death Of A Drug Addict

February 24, 2010

I learned today of the death of a woman drug addict of my acquaintance. Last year she lost a leg due to drug misuse, but too lateshe stayed a user even after that. Earlier this year she was arrested on a manslaughter charge. She had injected a guy with drugs and he had died, hence the manslaughter charge. She died in prison some weeks ago, but I don’t know the circumstances. Many of us had shared the gospel with her, but she always rejected it.   How sad!!

Muslim Seeks Christ

February 16, 2010

Got an e-mail today from a Muslim in the UK who wants to become a Christian. Was able to give him some links to various helpful websites, plus a local contact in the area he is living.

God is mightily at work and revealing Himself to  many in the Muslim faith. Praise His name!

The Gospel Isn’t Supposed To Make You Feel Good

February 13, 2010

I came across this blog post today and just had to quote it:

“1. The Gospel was never intended to build anyone up.

Luk 13:3 No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish

2.The Gospel builds up Christ and pushes man down

Act 20:24 But I do not account my life of any value nor as precious to myself, if only I may finish my course and the ministry that I received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the gospel of the grace of God.

Rom 3:10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one;
Rom 3:11 no one understands; no one seeks for God.
Rom 3:12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.”
Rom 3:13 “Their throat is an open grave; they use their tongues to deceive.” “The venom of asps is under their lips.”

3. The Gospel is supposed to breed fear to the lost.

2Co 7:10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas worldly grief produces death.

Mat 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.

4. Jesus the God man came and died humiliated on a criminals cross. Hit and spit on and treated worse than any of us. Somehow people expect the Gospel to be a self esteem builder. That’s not the True Gospel. What it is, is an Americanized lily scented gushy gospel that damns many people to hell.

Man will not repent to a God they do not fear.
There is hope”

Preaching Outdoors

February 13, 2010

man preachinf form the biblePREACHING OUTDOORS

“No sort of defense is needed for preaching outdoors but it would take a very strong argument to prove that a man who has never preached beyond the walls of his meetinghouse has done his duty. A defense is required for services within buildings rather than for worship outside of them” (William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army – born April 1829  and died August 1912)).

“WHY DOES THE CHURCH STAY INDOORS ?   They have a theology that has dwindled into a philosophy, in which there is no thrill of faith, no terror of doom, and no concern for souls. Unbelief has put out the fires of passion, and worldliness garlands the altar of sacrifice with the tawdry glitter of unreality.” – Samuel Chadwick (1840 -1932)

Never Prayed Before

February 13, 2010

I met a young guy who said he had never succeeded in school, had always been in “special needs” classes and saw little hand lifted up in prayerhope of getting a job, since he had never got any qualifications. Iasked him if he ever prayed. He said: “No, I never have” . I told him about God, his maker and suggested he prayed to God and ask Him for help about his future. Sadly, he didn’t think he would.

Conversations With A Spiritualist

February 9, 2010

Met a spiritualist last week who told me he comes from a line of spiritualists going back 50 years. He boasted about how he could heal people and tell people things about themselves that were true etc.  When I asked him about his beliefs in terms of judgement, he said:”we judge ourselves.” I thought to myself “How very convenient!”

Before I could say anything about the Bible forbidding contact with the dead, he said: “When Moses got the 10 Commandments he spoke to the dead.” I replied:” No he didn’t –  He spoke with the Living God”. A very muddled guy, I’m afraid.
