The Two Sides of Life

August 27, 2016

For over 30 years I worked in Government service with Armed Forces personnel in a cosseted environment. It was an “Ivory Tower”, remote from real life suffering and tragedy.  armed forces logo

During the last 10 years however, moving in an environment where suffering and tragedy abound, I meet up with it all the time, albeit at arm’s length.

Today I met a guy who seemed drunk, as he found it difficult to walk in a straight line. He had a severe injury that made walking upright difficult. As we chatted he cursed the day he ever took heroin, “the worst mistake I ever made”. He is an ex-offender, struggling to cope with everyday life. He was sweating profusely, an indicator of drug withdrawal; he admitted he’s still a user.

lifebelt   Some time back he threw himself in the local canal; fortunately he was spotted and rescued by the Police.

I prayed briefly for the pain he was suffering. It improved very slightly, but he was still suffering. He wasn’t inclined to carry on with further prayer.

I told him to not give up; there is always hope if you believe in God. He said he did believe. I asked if could read and he said he could, so I showed him a small booklet called “Finding Hope”. It is an excellent little booklet produced by SGM Lifewords. They produce this booklet in several languages http://www.sgmlifewords.com/uk/resources?search=finding+hope

More Healing For My Communist Friend

June 24, 2016

In May I wrote about our encounter with a Communist and how we ministered healing to the centre of his back.  See the post here: https://jesushealstoday99.wordpress.com/2016/05/25/reluctant-communist-sits-down-for-prayer/

He shared his mobile phone number with me afterwards, which is how I came to be meeting him in town this afternoon. We sat in a pavement cafe and he bought me a cup of tea. He confirmed that the pain had gone from the centre of his back after our ministry some 5 weeks ago. He comes from Transylvania (home of  Dracula) and speaks five languages. He grew up bi-lingual, speaking Romanian and Hungarian. Long story short, he told me he had done some really bad things in the past. He suffers from a number of several ailments, including stress and anxiety.

back pain sufferer  He also suffers other pains just above the hip bone, both sides, so we both stood on the pavement at the cafe while I laid hands on both hip areas. First time I did it he got an improvement. Second time it got even better, third time (well, you get the idea!) and fourth time all pain left. He said he could feel heat, also a numbness that was going down his leg. I assured him that heat and a spreading numbness were good, and signs that God was at work. During all this the cafe proprietor was standing six feet away watching me with my hands on another man’s hips, praying out loud – both in English and tongues – clearly wondering what was going on! There were also security cameras on a tall post 20 feet away, so those manning the camera monitors would also have a good view.

He still maintained he didn’t believe in God and compared himself to Doubting Thomas. “If I see, then I believe”. I was praying to think of ways to help him find forgiveness and freedom in Christ. I finally suggested that he make a list in one of his native languages of all the bad things he’d done. He should then meet up with me and we would then set fire to the list. It would be a symbolic way of lightening his load and showing God that he was moving forward, albeit as a doubter. He seemed agreeable, so I suggested a place and time to meet and said I’d bring the matches. He double checked on my suggested meeting point, so I think he’ll turn up. He also has another medical problem and he suggested I might pray for that when we meet.

Reluctant Communist Sits Down For Prayer

May 25, 2016

hammer and sickle    As he came up to us he said:”I’m a Communist”. He was from an East European country but wouldn’t tell us which one. We explained that we were Christians offering to pray for healing. His next comment was “I’m like (doubting) Thomas” We persuaded him to have a seat and almost immediately I felt the presence of God on us. The lady I was with sensed the same.  I could feel the Father’s love for this man and I gave him a few words that I believe were from God, showing this man God the Father’s heart for him.

He had pain in the lower back so we laid hands on him, but he noticed no immediate difference. We prayed again and this time he felt the area that was painful diminish in size. He kept saying he had to go for an appointment. Before he went he gave me his mobile phone number and asked to be informed when we would be out on the streets again, so he could come and see us. We gave him a “Why Jesus? booklet to take away.

Outreach On The Street Again

July 25, 2015

silhouette of old man with walking stick   On the way to meet up with the Healing Team, I saw an old man leaning on a barrier at a road crossing. I asked if he was OK. He had gone for a newspaper and was resting on the way back to his retirement home. He will be 89 in December. We chatted about work and I explained that I worked for an International Organisation that had outlets in nearly every country in the world. He sounded intrigued, but not too surprised when I said it was the Kingdom of God. He had a Bible but didn’t often read it. I tried to encourage him to make his peace with God before it was too late.

We had a worship time in church, then hit the streets. Soon after we arrived a group of Muslims set up an information table not far from our pitch. Over a two hour period we prayed for a number of people. Several reported being pain free after hands-on ministry. A Christian evangelist nearby helpfully kept pointing people towards us as they passed by.

Before we finished I went over to the Muslim guys. They asked what we were doing. I explained what we did. One Muslim guy immediately started talking about the Trinity and tried to undermine what the Bible teaches about the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I tried to get the conversation on to Jesus, but he wasn’t prepared to listen, so I moved on.

Arthritis Bows The Knee To Jesus

November 15, 2014

Out on the streets today I met a young man in his late 20’s who said he had arthritis and pain in his right knee. I told him we were offering prayer for healing and that I had seen lots of knees healed, so that was no problem.    knee pain

He sat down and we laid hands on his knee and commanded the pain to go and for the arthritis to leave his body. After a minute I could see a look on his face, so asked him “what’s going on?” He said he had a strange feeling in his knee that he couldn’t really describe, but something like a numbness.  He also reported that his level of pain had dropped from a 2 to 0.5.  He agreed that as “the mountain had started to move” we should get it to move further. After a further hands on session he reported all pain had gone. God is good.

Scoliosis and back pain healed by Jesus

November 6, 2014

man with back pain   A man came in for food today and had problems sitting due to pain. He said his back hurt, so I prayed for his back and commanded healing in Jesus name. He experienced an improvment so I did it again. This time he reported no pain at all. He then informed me that he suffered from Scoliosis which meant he had a kink in his spine, “like a question mark” he said. He had suffered this from age 3. He was now 23.

I offered healing for the spine problem, so laid hands on him and commanded healing. After a short while I asked how it was. He said it felt there was something going on in his back, like a numbness and a tingling. I asked him to check it out. He felt his spine and told me that it was now straight, and that the “question mark” had gone. He moved around, touched his toes and again confirmed no pain.

This is the video I took, with his agreement, after the event:

The last two times I have seen Jesus heal, have followed on from days when I watched online healing videso to encourage myself before going out. Both times I watched videos on Youtube where Tom Loud was talking on healing/demonstrating it.

God Turns Up Again – Twice In One Afternoon

January 17, 2014

man with back and neck pain   A guy arrived and was complaining of pain in his back and neck. I could see he was uncomfortable just sitting there. He’d been involved in a motorbike accident 4 years ago but still suffered from constant pain. He said that on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 was no pain and 10 was the worst, it was around an 8. I told him I’d seen pain disappear from lots of people when they were prayed for. He seemed happy with that so I laid hands on him. I told him it was Jesus who did the healing. I couldn’t heal a fly.

This time round I felt I should keep prayers short. I’ve noticed that guys like Torben Sondergard, Tom Fischer and Pete Cabrera Jr do quick prayers and see great results. You could say that long, drawn out prayers were an indicator of little faith, that you had to keep at it, otherewise God might feel short-changed and not turn up! Strange things go through your mind sometimes.

Anyhow, after a quick 7 second session of telling the pain to go, I asked how he was. He said the pain had diminished to around a 4. I said: “let’s do some more”. After another short hands-on session I asked him to test it. I got him to do things that were normally painful. He gave himself a pretty good workout, then announced: “well I reckon the pain’s gone!” He then said:”you’re a healer, man!” I said:”No, it’s Jesus who does the healing. I couldn’t heal anybody”.

The next guy I spoke to had been sitting watching our healing session, so we moved easily and naturally onto spiritual topics. He showed no great enthusuasm for things of God, but as we chatted I asked if he had a Bible. He didn’t, so I offered him a Gospel to take away. He said he’d take one, so I found him Luke’s Gospel. I suggested he read about Jesus and he said he’d give it a go.

I then had a conversation with a man suffering intermittent pain from an undiagnosed illness. He’d had tests, scans, MRIs, etc, but the medics still don’t know what’s wrong.   tests being done in hospital

He’s scheduled for exploratory surgery very soon. As we chatted he mentioned “the Lord”, and told me which church he attended. I asked if he’d like healing prayer, as the medics had so far drawn a blank. He was agreeable, so I shared how the first man’s pain left him after a hands on session. I also talked about how Jesus always healed those who came to him, without exception. Also, he never turned anyone away because they weren’t good enough or because of anything else. All who came were healed.

Another volunteer came and joined me and together we ministered to him. It was one of those occasions where you sense the Lord’s presence and you know he’s going to do something. I felt a bit shaky as the Lord made his presence felt. I gave this man some words I felt were from the Lord and the lady with me did too. Both lots seemed to tie in together, which was reassuring! I had my hand on the problem area and spoke to the problem in Jesus’ name. The man thanked us, but didn’t give us any feedback afterwards, so we left things with the Lord.

Our last guy used to be a rough sleeper who begged on the streets. He recognised me from when I’d been round with food and drinks round town before. His girl friend was on remand for offences related to drugs. He himself was getting to the stage where he felt “enough was enough” and he’s now found a cheap bed and breakfast place in town.
