Reluctant Communist Sits Down For Prayer

May 25, 2016

hammer and sickle    As he came up to us he said:”I’m a Communist”. He was from an East European country but wouldn’t tell us which one. We explained that we were Christians offering to pray for healing. His next comment was “I’m like (doubting) Thomas” We persuaded him to have a seat and almost immediately I felt the presence of God on us. The lady I was with sensed the same.  I could feel the Father’s love for this man and I gave him a few words that I believe were from God, showing this man God the Father’s heart for him.

He had pain in the lower back so we laid hands on him, but he noticed no immediate difference. We prayed again and this time he felt the area that was painful diminish in size. He kept saying he had to go for an appointment. Before he went he gave me his mobile phone number and asked to be informed when we would be out on the streets again, so he could come and see us. We gave him a “Why Jesus? booklet to take away.

You Can’t Keep Jesus Inside – He Just Overflows Out Of You

January 18, 2014

This morning we set up our banner, chairs and kneeler pads in town for a two hour session doing Healing On The Streets.   healing on the streets logo

busker on the street playing guitar     I noticed a busker with long hair playing pretty fancy guitar stuff nearby. When he took a break I wandered over to chat with him. I complimented him on his playing; he said he’d been doing it some 30 years. I showed him our leaflet that explains what we do. He told me he had back pain and shoulder pain. I told him about the guy I laid hands on yesterday and how his pain had gone. I pointed to our chairs and invited him to sit and be prayed for. He said OK, packed up his music gear and collecting sheet with his money and joined me. I invited a lady team member to join us.

We laid hands on him and brought him to Jesus. I asked how he was feeling now and he said: “I feel really good!” His back and shoulder felt much improved. I suggested he stand up and give it a workout. He said: “I’d better not; I think I might fall over if I did!” The lady with me gave him a few words from the Lord that he could relate to. He took my website card and a Mark’s Gospel I had in my back pocket.

Thank you Lord that you’re always ready, willing and able!

God Turns Up Again – Twice In One Afternoon

January 17, 2014

man with back and neck pain   A guy arrived and was complaining of pain in his back and neck. I could see he was uncomfortable just sitting there. He’d been involved in a motorbike accident 4 years ago but still suffered from constant pain. He said that on a scale of 0 to 10, where 0 was no pain and 10 was the worst, it was around an 8. I told him I’d seen pain disappear from lots of people when they were prayed for. He seemed happy with that so I laid hands on him. I told him it was Jesus who did the healing. I couldn’t heal a fly.

This time round I felt I should keep prayers short. I’ve noticed that guys like Torben Sondergard, Tom Fischer and Pete Cabrera Jr do quick prayers and see great results. You could say that long, drawn out prayers were an indicator of little faith, that you had to keep at it, otherewise God might feel short-changed and not turn up! Strange things go through your mind sometimes.

Anyhow, after a quick 7 second session of telling the pain to go, I asked how he was. He said the pain had diminished to around a 4. I said: “let’s do some more”. After another short hands-on session I asked him to test it. I got him to do things that were normally painful. He gave himself a pretty good workout, then announced: “well I reckon the pain’s gone!” He then said:”you’re a healer, man!” I said:”No, it’s Jesus who does the healing. I couldn’t heal anybody”.

The next guy I spoke to had been sitting watching our healing session, so we moved easily and naturally onto spiritual topics. He showed no great enthusuasm for things of God, but as we chatted I asked if he had a Bible. He didn’t, so I offered him a Gospel to take away. He said he’d take one, so I found him Luke’s Gospel. I suggested he read about Jesus and he said he’d give it a go.

I then had a conversation with a man suffering intermittent pain from an undiagnosed illness. He’d had tests, scans, MRIs, etc, but the medics still don’t know what’s wrong.   tests being done in hospital

He’s scheduled for exploratory surgery very soon. As we chatted he mentioned “the Lord”, and told me which church he attended. I asked if he’d like healing prayer, as the medics had so far drawn a blank. He was agreeable, so I shared how the first man’s pain left him after a hands on session. I also talked about how Jesus always healed those who came to him, without exception. Also, he never turned anyone away because they weren’t good enough or because of anything else. All who came were healed.

Another volunteer came and joined me and together we ministered to him. It was one of those occasions where you sense the Lord’s presence and you know he’s going to do something. I felt a bit shaky as the Lord made his presence felt. I gave this man some words I felt were from the Lord and the lady with me did too. Both lots seemed to tie in together, which was reassuring! I had my hand on the problem area and spoke to the problem in Jesus’ name. The man thanked us, but didn’t give us any feedback afterwards, so we left things with the Lord.

Our last guy used to be a rough sleeper who begged on the streets. He recognised me from when I’d been round with food and drinks round town before. His girl friend was on remand for offences related to drugs. He himself was getting to the stage where he felt “enough was enough” and he’s now found a cheap bed and breakfast place in town.

Sharing The Life of Jesus In The City

April 21, 2013

I went out with our Healing Team this morning and had several encounters.    christian cross in gold colour

One lady sat down for prayer. She had recently had her application for ministry training in the church rejected. She was feeling rather confused and uncertain, but was adamant she wanted God’s will for her life. I told her she was on the home straight already; wanting God’s will for your life is the best mindset to be in!  We prayed and she went away with, I think,  some hope in her heart.

As elderly gentleman came along, carrying several bags of shopping. It turned out he was 91! He said he was suffering from glaucoma and cataracts. He was a Christian, so we talked about Jesus ministry of healing and how he never turned anyone away. We laid hands on him and asked how he felt. His reply was : “I feel strengthened!”

I noticed a woman taking one of our leaflets and soon afterwards coming back in my direction. I stopped her and we had a chat. She looked like, and turned out to be, an amazing woman. She had so many unusual experiences since childhood, it was clear she was one of a kind.  She was a Christian, but admitted she’d been in some dark places over the years. After a long chat I asked her if she’d like prayer. She said she would, so myself and a lady team member knelt and ministered to her. We both were able to give her words from the Lord, many of which which she felt were right on the mark – and encouraging to her too.

A Jewish man I know, who has rather droppped out of normal society after life problems affected him badly,  came by. I had given him one of my website cards that week. He pushed a piece of paper into my hand and walked off. I opened it and it was a scriptural response to the wording on my card. Unsurprisingly, he disagreed with the words of Jesus I had got printed on the card. He is a very intelligent guy and knows the Jewish scriptures inside out, so a bit of challenge in many ways!.
